Free EASA Pilot Logbook
Most logbook apps are built around FAA rules and treat Part-FCL as an afterthought. NinerLog evaluates your flights against the EASA regulation that actually applies to your licence — and tells you which paragraph it used.
Recency and revalidation are not the same thing.
This is the detail that trips up most software. EASA draws a line between two things that both have to be true at once:
- Recency (FCL.140.x) — rolling flight experience you need to exercise the privileges of a LAPL. It runs backwards from today, and no examiner signature is involved.
- Revalidation (FCL.740.x) — periodic renewal of a class or type rating on a PPL, CPL or ATPL. The experience is counted inside a window tied to the rating’s expiry date, not to today.
A tool that counts everything as a rolling window will quietly tell a PPL holder they are fine when their SEP rating window has not even opened yet. NinerLog models the two separately, and dispatches on your licence type: a LAPL goes down the FCL.140 path, PPL/CPL/ATPL down FCL.740.

SEP & TMG revalidation
12 hours total flight time, of which 6 hours as PIC, plus 12 takeoffs and landings and a one-hour refresher flight with an instructor — counted within the 12 months preceding the rating’s expiry date.
MEP & SET revalidation
Either a proficiency check, or the experience-based route: 10 route sectors as PIC plus a one-hour refresher flight with an instructor inside the 12-month window.
LAPL(A) recency
12 hours of flight time, 12 takeoffs and landings and one hour of training with an instructor, on a rolling 24-month window measured from today — not from a rating expiry date.
Instrument rating
10 hours of IFR flight time within the 12 months preceding expiry, alongside the annual proficiency check.
Carrying passengers
3 takeoffs and landings in the same class or type within the preceding 90 days, plus one at night to carry passengers at night — with the night requirement waived for holders of a valid IR under FCL.060(b)(2)(ii).

More than one licence
Plenty of European pilots hold an EASA licence and an FAA certificate. Each licence carries its own ratings and is evaluated under its own authority’s rules, in one logbook.
EASA-shaped CSV export
Export with EASA column conventions rather than a US layout you have to rearrange by hand. FAA and a ForeFlight-compatible standard layout are there too.
Instructor signatures
Training flights get signed in person or through a secure link, and lock afterwards — so the entry stays exactly as it was endorsed.
Medicals and credentials
Class 1, Class 2 and LAPL medicals, ratings and other credentials all carry expiry dates. NinerLog warns you before they lapse.

An honest note about compliance.
NinerLog implements these rules carefully and shows you the paragraph behind every result — but it is a tool, not an authority. Regulations get amended, national implementations differ, and your competent authority has the final word. The pilot in command remains responsible for their own currency.
Because the code is open, you do not have to take that on faith. The currency engine lives in ninerlog-api and you are welcome to read exactly how each rule is evaluated — or open an issue if you find one that is wrong.
